Concert ETIQUETTE

Imagine that moment when the auditorium lights dim and the stage lights brighten.  Then the silence is broken by the sound of a tuning note and soon joined by the entire orchestra tuning up.  It can be an exhilarating moment for both performer and audience member!  That moment, and so many other moments like it, are what make the performances so special for the student members of the Chamblee Orchestras.  By understanding and following concert etiquette behavior, audience members and student performers can have the best possible experience during performances.  The following are some gentle reminders about audience member and student performer behavior during the concert:

• Please silence your phone before the concert begins.
• Only enter and exit the auditorium between selections.  
• If a selection has multiple sections with short pauses in between them (we call them movements), wait to applaud at the end of the final movement.
• When taking pictures or videos of your favorite performer during the concert, don't block the view of folks behind you.  Please never use the flash.  It is a distraction for the student performers on stage. 
• Fussy or crying little ones should be taken out of the auditorium as quickly and quietly as possible.  
• Student performers who are waiting to perform or who have already finished performing, should be quiet and attentive as they sit in their assigned seats during the other portions of the concert.

The concerts are the way we celebrate and showcase the dedication and accomplishments of the student performers of the Chamblee Orchestras.  Let's all do our part during the performance to keep the focus on them!
